SocMM Community Update: Marc VandenBerg

SocMM community marc vandeberg

Severn, MD—SocMM alum Marc VandenBerg battled through ten grueling days of tryouts and a record number of trialists to make the Archbishop Spalding Varsity soccer team as a freshman.   Marc is a fantastic talent who has participated in every SocMM seasonal session since the beginning (winter, spring and summer).

On top of that, Marc is in all honors classes and in the Engineering program this upcoming school year.

Marc embodies everything that SocMM is about.  His handwork ethic has helped him succeed not only on-the-field but off-the-field as well.

Marc is a motivated young man who is going about everything in the right way, and we can’t wait to see his progress this season and in the years to come.

SocMM interviewed Marc and this was the result.  Enjoy!

Bowie, MD—Soccer Means More and Bowie Boys and Girls Club (BBGC) combined this past weekend to provide a coaching clinic for volunteer coaches within the BBGC at Buckingham Park in Bowie, MD.

The clinic’s purpose was to inform and give ideas to coaches for the upcoming season on how to design a session, while providing a positive environment for the players to play and grow within the game.

Each coach’s experience differed, but in-the-end, the clinic was tailored in such a way that everyone, regardless of experience, could get a lot of helpful information out of it.

The first two weeks, July 11-15 and Aug 1-5, were open to players aged 10-18, while the final week (Aug 8-12) was the SocMM high school prep week.  There were some players like Broadneck junior Chris Murphy (pictured running) who participated in every week.
