2012 SocMM Summer Camp Weeks Announced and Registration is Now Open

2012 Summer Camp Weeks Announced

Bowie, MD—Soccer Means More is proud to announce its summer program dates for the motivated soccer player.

This year we are moving from two-hour summer sessions to full day sessions (6 hours) at our beautiful home field at Holy Trinity Episcopal Day School (HTEDS). We will also offer half-day options during Week 1 where you can sign your son or daughter up for just the morning session (9am-noon) or the afternoon session (1-4pm). Weeks 1 and 2 are for motivated players aged 8-16, and Week 3 is our High School Prep week for high school aged players.

Our curriculums are put together meticulously, so that we can get through to players of all backgrounds in the game.  The camps will be a very professional atmosphere with an emphasis on teaching the game in a demanding yet extremely positive environment.

This is a teaching camp where skill-sets will be developed (technically, physically and psycho-socially).  Our high-level staff, which have all played collegiately or professionally, will improve your player’s technique on-the-ball (technical), improve your player’s technique off-the-ball (physical) and will do this in an environment that rewards hard-work and self-belief (psycho-social).

The camp setting offers new opportunities as well for video sessions, flexibility training, SocMM testing and guest speaker leadership seminars that we are excited to implement.  Our goal is to improve your son or daughter as a soccer player, but also fill their inspiration tank, so they can take ownership of his/her development into the future.  Each player will also receive an end-of-camp player evaluation.

SocMM and BBGC Come Together to Kick-Off The Spring Season

BBGC & SocMM Spring Clinic

Allen Pond Park (Bowie, MD)—On Sunday March 4, 2012, Soccer Means More (SocMM) with the help of Bowie Boys and Girls Club (BBGC) Commissioner Lance Smith, was able to run a season-opening clinic for BBGC players and coaches to get the Spring season off to a great start.

Over 150 youth players (ages 4-13) showed up on a brisk and windy afternoon ready to participate and get better.  SocMM Executive Director Nate Baker, a BBGC soccer participant as a youth, spoke to the kids at the beginning about the importance of hard work and gave examples of how hard work will not only allow the kids to become better soccer players but also better students and people.

2012 Spring Workshop FREE Registration is Now Open

SocMM Spring Workshop Registration is open

Soccer Means More will be hosting its second ever free workshop Saturday, May 12, 2012 (12:30-4:00pm) at Holy Trinity Episcopal Day School in Glenn Dale, MD.

The Spring Workshop is a day of soccer for the entire family.  The main motivation for the workshop is to provide players and families from around the DC Metro area with varying backgrounds in the game a day of soccer they will never forget.

The first 150 players (ages 7-17) who register will be able to train with current/former professional players along with the SocMM coaching staff.  In addition, the first 150 players will receive a free workshop t-shirt and will be able to take in a great guest speaker speech that aims to ignite their passion in the game.

We will have vendors present at the workshop that families can visit.  The vendors will be either soccer specific organizations that can provide a venue for the motivated player(s) in your family to play the game, or health and wellness vendors that can provide valuable resources for everyone in the family to live healthier lives.

Join us on May 12, 2012, and let us prove to you that soccer means more.
